Alan graduated from Brooklyn Automotive High School in 1974 and immediately began working at Empire Chevrolet then located on Utica Ave in Brooklyn, New York. Alan began his career at one of Brooklyn's busiest automotive dealerships, Empire Chevrolet, as a parts delivery man, dropping off orders to all the major shops and service stations in Brooklyn and Queens. Alan transitioned into the parts department in 1975, becoming one of the most energetic and enthusiastic young parts men, learning under local legends, Frank Romano, Walter Kinkel, and Lionel Yearwood.

From early 1979 through the latter part of 1984 Alan worked at Kin Chevrolet on Coney Island Ave in Brooklyn, New York. Alan spent his time at Kin Chevrolet selling all General Motors products, parts, and accessories to a variety of customers, including a substantial population of the NY taxi fleet. In 1985, Alan returned to Empire Chevrolet as the Parts Department manager. He spent three years at Empire as manager, quadrupling retail and wholesale sales, creating novel advertising methods and began stocking parts for all GM light trucks. In 1988, Empire Chevrolet officially closed it’s doors causing Alan to return to Kin Chevrolet where he worked until Kin Chevrolet closed it’s doors in 1992.

Frustrated with the growing trend of job insecurity, Alan took a bold move and started, Alan’s Empire Classic Auto Parts. For five years Alan solely provided parts to dealerships, auto body shops, performance shops, and service stations, with a majority of those he served being his clients from Empire and Kin. In 1997, Alan took a position as parts manager at Grand Buick, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac in Queens, NY.

Due to the tragic events of September 11th and GM announcing the closing of its Oldsmobile Division Alan was given his walking papers. On that same day he received an offer from Van Buren GMC in Long Island, NY. While at Van Buren, Alan broadened his knowledge base, selling Hino (Toyota), UD (Nissan) and GM light and medium duty truck parts to repair facilities, body shops, commercial utility companies, and local municipalities. In the spring of 2006, Alan left Van Buren to focus on his business. Alan shifted the focus of Empire Classic Auto Parts to become a specialty provider of rare and hard to find new old stock parts for classic american cars. Over the years Alan was a vendor at most major tri-state swap meets including Englishtown, Belmont Racetrack, Bayshore Drive-in Theater, Kings Farm, Flower Fields, etc.
In his 34 year career with parts, Alan has developed an extensive network of contacts, not only in NY but in the United States and abroad. In addition, Alan has established a massive collection of NOS parts dating back to the 1930’s, and an extensive library of parts books that go back into parts history as well. Alan’s broad network base and his treasure chest of parts makes customer satisfaction a universal certainty.
